Our Brand "in2herbs"

The "in2herbs" brand was established in 1999 brought on by our passion for the Rainforest.  The Amazon Rainforest has long been a symbol of mystery and power, a sacred link between humans and nature. It is also the richest biological incubator on the planet. It supports millions of plant, animal and insect species - a virtual library of chemical invention. In these archives, drugs like quinine, muscle relaxants, steroids and cancer drugs are found. More importantly, are the new drugs still awaiting discovery - drugs for AIDS, cancer, diabetes, arthritis and Alzheimer's. Many secrets and untold treasures await discovery with the medicinal plants used by shamans, healers and the indigenous people of the Rainforest Tribes. So alluring are the mysteries of indigenous medical knowledge that over 100 pharmaceutical companies and even the US government are currently funding projects studying the indigenous plant knowledge and the specific plants used by native shamans and healers.

How our herbs are harvested

Very young plants contain almost exclusively water and mucilage’s, while the active ingredients of complex structure only formed later. It is during the period of growth (vegetative stage), when metabolic transformations reach maximum intensity, and metabolic constituents reach maximum intensity, and the chemical constituents of the plant are mainly formed during this period. In general, the active ingredient content increases during plant growth to decrease after flowering, when the flowers begin to dry.

From this observation, some basic rules are deduced:

• Annual plants are collected during the period of full development

• The biennial plants are collected during the second year of life

• The polianuales or perennial crops are harvested when they are neither too young nor too old

The morning hours are the best time of day to harvest. The most suitable days are dry and slightly windy. An important condition is the absence of dew, as the wet herbs wilt and spoil quickly.

As discussed below, the various organs of the plant are harvested at different times of the year, i.e. during the dormancy period of the plant, after the aerial part is dry, or before the plant returns from back to vegetate. In this period, the underground organs are richer in active ingredients. Why? The reason is simple. At the end of the annual growing season (autumn) , and before the fall of the leaves , a migratory stream chemicals underground organs to the newly formed parts (buds, leaves, flowers) occurs, to the extent that active substances accumulated in the roots, rhizomes, corms and tubers are mobilized almost disappeared during the period of development of the aerial parts of the plant.

It is advisable to collect underground organs when the soil is dry, avoiding cracks and blemishes. After collection, cleaned of soil by shaking or brushing (not advisable to wash them). Finally, to promote drying, do the cutting bits underground organ in roundels which then placed in thin layers or strung on a cord for drying. The bulbs are dried small size whole.

2 . The nuts should be harvested when they have reached full maturity , while the seeds of nuts are harvested when the fruit is fully mature , ie before the plant drop it down spontaneously.

3 . The flowers are harvested when they are not yet fully open or during flowering .

4 . The buds are harvested early in their development, i.e. in late winter and early spring , when they begin to swell but are not yet open.

5 . The stems (e.g. Dulcimer) are harvested during the winter or spring before germination.

6. The herb (aerial part in blossom) is collected before or during flowering, cutting about 10 cm of the soil, leaving the bottom, which often is woody .

7. The bark is harvested organs (stem, branches, root) three or four years of age, as in this case when the best results are achieved .
